Fur-Battles is a main-stage dance battle event hosted by Another Furry Con. There will be one dance division with a mix of fursuit and non-suiters. Each person's performance during prelims will be judged and the top 16 will advance to the live show. In the live battles, The winner of each round will advance to the next round until only one victor remains!
There will be preliminaries on Friday to ensure all competitors are graded and matched appropriately. Dancers will line up, and go one after the other, with the song changing every few competitors. Judges will rank competitors on a 1-5 scale to determine who will remain (brackets will be up to 16 in each division).
Battle Format
- You will be matched with an opponent beforehand. Once called up, you both will step up to the dance floor.
- The music starts and either you or your opponent will start the battle - whoever feels inclined to go first. If too much time passes by, a bottle will be spun on who will go first, and the music will be reset.
- You have 30 seconds to show us your best moves before our MC counts down until your turn is over. Then your opponent is up to battle.
- Once both opponent's first turns are up, you have one more chance to battle it out to a different song, totalling two battles per round.
- The round will end, and our three judges will choose who will move on to the next round. Once everyone in the division has battled, we will switch to the next category.
Rules
- Arrive on time once time has been announced! Those who do not show up by roll call will give up their slot to the next in the waitlist. THERE WILL BE PRELIMINARIES, if the amount of sign-ups for a division do not fall on either 8 or 16.
- No touching your opponent, the audience, or staff.
- No throwing objects.
- Do not interrupt your opponent's battle. They have until the MC finishes counting down.
- Cursing or overtly rude behavior will not be tolerated.
- You may not ask to skip a song - you must dance to whatever song the DJ plays. This is an all-style dance battle event and you must have the versatility to dance to any music you are given.
- If you're not called up, you may not step onto the dance floor at all while a round is in progress.
- Be a good sport! We are all here to have fun and put on a good show.
Attire
For fursuiters: You may battle in your full suit or partial suit. Partial means you must have a fursuit head, paws, feet and tail (if applicable) while the rest of your body must be clothed. No poodling (do not show skin, please)! Emphasis on foot paws - you are required to have footpaws or even happy feet slippers (plush shoes) to give everyone an even footing as wearing dance shoes/sneakers would be a distinct advantage.
For non-suiters: Wear something that compliments your style! You're going to be performing in front of an audience that includes families and a younger crowd, so do not wear anything vulgar.
Prerequisites
You must abide by all convention policies and have your own, active convention membership (badge) on the day of the event.
Contestants under 16 must have parental permission and a parent in attendance for the event and are encouraged to enter in the fursuit division. Age policies for the convention must be adhered to.
